Buying a Home

Buying your first home is exciting, rewarding, stressful, chaotic and fun all at once!  When you are renting or living with someone its hard to put your own touch on the walls, flooring and furniture.  When you buy your own home this all changes.  You are now able to change wall colors, flooring, design & structural elements.   You now have the freedom to buy any kind of furniture that fits your style and so much more.  I love seeing what people come up with for design styles.  Personally, I love contemporary style with clean lines and layouts.  Everyone is different whether it be colonial, rustic, classic or country.  Once I walked into a home many pictures and quilts on the walls and made a game plan with Sellers to minimize and declutter.  It was a beautiful home with great bones but all hidden behind all the pictures and quilts.  When you’re ready to buy your first home and start looking we will have an initial consultation meeting to get your specific wants & needs on paper and clarify the wants vs must’s.  Looking past furniture and pictures are at times hard but picturing how it will look with YOUR belongings will bring a different light to the home.

Have A Great Day!!

State Tournament Baseball Weekend

What a great weekend!  My grandson placed 6th in his state baseball tournament for Quad City Heat 7U in Des Moines, IA. Their team had started the season with this being many of the young boys first time on a traveling team.  They have progressed so much in a short amount of time.  My son in law coaches his team with 2 other dads and has done a great job.

Traveling ball is very fun but there are a few things everyone should know.  When packing for the weekend make sure you pack a cooler with plenty of snacks, sport drinks & water.  If you have little ones make sure you bring games, toys and activities to keep them as entertained with things to do.  Always expect the worst for weather conditions.  This last weekend was a bit on the chilly side so it’s a good thing I packed a few sweatshirts.  Curfew for the team was a must my son in law implemented making sure the parents and kids knew bedtime by 8:30pm, no swimming more then 2-3 hours and keep hydrated with sports drinks and water.  Even though it was not hot they can still easily get dehydrated.  These are just a few observances I took away from the weekend.

Have a Great day!!

Organizing your Home...

Summer time is always the best time for my family and I. We have a big in ground pool which means our house is always the hang out spot. We do need to be organized just in case some of our friends and family would like to just pop on over for a quick swim.

When organizing your home, yard, or garage just keep in mind about how it will work with the space. If you have quite a few rakes, shovels, brooms, or any other tall tools that are just resting against your walls you can get a pallet and screw it to your wall for some storage and to keep the items from falling over! Another great idea is if you just don't have the space in your garage anymore you could build a shed. I know building a shed is easier said than done right? Well, if you're not in the crafty spirit or just don't have the time you could go to your local Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, or True Value Store and purchase a shed! This way you are able to put all of your tools, gardening equipment, brooms, shovels, rakes out of the way and use the wall in your garage for your favorite Sports Team logo!

Father's Day 2017

Father's Day is right around the corner! No Literally it is TWO days away! I have a great suggestion for a last minute, easy, and simple gift for Dad (or Grandpa).

"Daddy's Grilling Plate" or "Grandpa's Grilling Plate"

Materials Needed

*One large Oven safe plate (big enough to hold a couple steaks)

*Acrylic paints (Different Colors)

*Paint Markers (Different Colors)

*Paint tray to hold the paints and small brushes

First paint your hand with the acrylic paint in any color you would like. Next place your hand somewhere on the front of the plate (you can usually fit around 3-4 hand prints) make sure when you are lifting your hand off of the plate try not to smear the paint. After you have finished with your hand prints you have the option of writing on the plate "Daddy's Grilling Plate".

Next preheat the oven to 350* and place your plate in the oven for 15 minutes. This will allow the paint to bake to the plate and when finished it is Dishwasher safe!
